Flamengo star Ederson Milito has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious injury in the club's match against Palmeiras on Saturday.
The Brazilian defender, who joined Flamengo from Manchester United in January 2019, was involved in a collision with Palmeiras' defender Gustavo Marques during the second half of the game.
Milito sustained a serious leg injury and had to be taken off the pitch on a stretcher. He underwent surgery immediately after the match but unfortunately, the operation did not prevent him from sustaining further damage.
Flamengo manager Marcelo Oliveira confirmed that Milito will undergo more tests before determining his future plans. The team is now without one of its key players, which could have a significant impact on their chances of winning the Campeonato Brasileiro title this year.
